JOHNNY KEMPT

English born Johnny Kempt grew up in the far reaches of South Auckland, New Zealand. As a 13 year old guitarist, he joined the cult punk band The No Ones. Too young to play the pubs, The No Ones filled church halls all over South Auckland. In 1986 Kempt went on to front The Scissormen. The band toured with Elvis Costello, The Hoodoo Gurus, and Big Pig. He wrote and sang the groups somewhat progressive material and was nominated "Most Promising Male Vocalist" at the New Zealand Music Awards in 1990. (continue reading)
